Scoliosis & Chiropractic 85% of scoliosis develops as the result of childhood lateral spinal trauma.

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine. When a person with scoliosis is viewed from behind, the spine appeared curved.

Causes of Scoliosis: 5-6

  • Genetics
  • Birth disorders
  • Marfan's Syndrome / Muscular dystrophy / Cerebral palsy
  • Injuries
  • Infections
  • Tumors
  • Disc degeneration

2 Types of Scoliosis: 5-6

Nonstructural scoliosis involves a curve in the spine, without rotation, which is reversible. It is caused by an underlying condition such as muscle spasm, appendicitis or a difference in leg length.

Structural scoliosis involves a curve in the spine, with rotation, which is irreversible. It is usually caused by an unknown factor (idiopathic) or a disease/condition such as spina bifida, in which the spinal canal does not close properly, or a disorder which affects bone formation. Between 5% and 7% of scoliosis cases are caused by congenital abnormalities of the spine. This causes curves in the spine that are more rigid than those caused by idiopathic scoliosis. These curves often get worse as the child grows, especially during the teenage years.

Truth on Cancer

All of us have cancer cells inside us. But if your immune system organs are functioning normally, they will destroy these cells before they become a problem over time.

Everyone has between 100 to 10,000 cancer cells floating in their body at all times. If the immune system is strong, they are destroyed before any damage is done. However, new cancer cells develop every day, so you must keep your immune system in top condition. If it weakens too much, that's when cancer can establish itself

Children with mild scoliosis who are treated with chiropractic adjustments have shown a reduction in their spinal curvature

The findings of the 3-year study, funded by the Foundation of Chiropractic Education and Research, are encouraging. The study led by Dr. Lantz, Director of Research of Life Chiropractic College West, and his associates focus on the effects of chiropractic full-spine adjustments, heel lifts and postural counseling on children aged 9-15 years old with mild idiopathic scoliosis (less than 20 degrees of curvature, with no complicating conditions)4

Are you suffering from back and neck pain?

With our lives getting busier, we are subjected to increasing stress from our environment, body chemical changes, and emotions. Headaches, neck pain/stiffness and other bodily aches such as wrist and shoulder tension that result from long hours at the computer, are some of the warning signs exhibited by our body.

Having good mobility is a sign of a healthy spine. One of the most important functions of the spine is to protect the nervous system (brain, spinal cord and millions of nerves), which controls every function in our body. Many everyday activities can cause spinal bones and joints to lose their normal position or motion resulting in nerves and joint dysfunction and ultimately, pain and suffering.

I play the violin and injured my left wrist during prolonged practice 8 years ago. Since then, my wrist has been inflexible and it has caused some hindrance in my practice and performances. The pain has also prevented me from taking part in some performances for the past few years.

After a few adjustments, the pain has ceased. I am able to move my wrist freely without any pain. I am also able to endure hours of practice without feeling any strain.

I am really glad that I have come to seek chiropractic help with Chiropractic First and would certainly recommend it to others having the same problem.

Ms Lau

I had been having lower back pain for 4 years and I did not do anything about it, except going for a massage once in a while.

As I could feel the uncomfortable aching pain almost everyday, I went for a check up. The medical doctor did not find anything and referred me to try Chiropractic, which I did.

Since then, I feel a lot better and much more relieved. After 12 treatment sessions of Chiropractic, my muscles are much better and I did not feel so tired anymore. I would recommend Chiropractic First to those having back pain or any pain.
