Scoliosis is Best Defeated in Childhood

Scoliosis is Best Defeated in Childhood
Overview

Scoliosis is usually first seen in children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 18 but it can affect adults as well. In children it can be a more serious condition because it can rapidly progress as the child grows. Scoliosis is a progressive, lateral curvature of the spine. When viewed from the back, the spine is curved from side to side or in an “S” or “C” shape while a normal spine should be running straight down the middle.

Most cases of scoliosis are idiopathic or unknown cause.
Other causes can be:

  • Congenital or born with an abnormal curvature
  • Birth trauma
  • Bad posture habits or poor ergonomics

  • Conduct a series of tests and examination which includes:
    – Orthopaedic examination
    – Neurological examination
    – Specific chiropractic examination
    – Posture and gait examination
    – Range of motion test
    – Weight distribution test
    – Refer you for full spine x-rays

2. Report of Findings

Your chiropractor will correlate the case based on the examinations conducted and analysis of your x-rays result. A report will be presented to you and this will determine the treatment recommendation by your chiropractor.

3. Posture Picture And 3D-Scan

A key step in the design process, the scans and posture images (front, back and side view) provide a body map to determine pressure distribution and brace geometry.

4. Design & Fitting

Each brace is customised using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and then created with Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) to fit you. As each case varies, our doctor or brace technician will assist you in putting on the brace and provide you with advise on the bracing treatment protocol.

5. Physical Therapy

Posture rehab and core strengthening exercises are prescribed and taught. Additional neuromuscular rehab is done to maintain the correction.

Bracing has been used as an early intervention treatment for scoliosis for decades and is highly proven to reduce the progression of scoliosis curves.

  • Lightweight & breathable
  • Custom-made 3D corrective spinal brace
  • Easy to wear with front strapping opening system
  • Concealable design without affecting personal image

2. Chiropractic Adjustments

Subluxation (misalignment) of the spine will undergo a continuous regime of correction and reconstruction. This will also help to minimise or eliminate symptoms and complications from scoliosis.
