Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a hands-on, non-invasive and drug-free approach to relieving pain, promoting wellness and improving overall quality of life. Chiropractic treatments are based on the diagnosis of spinal misalignments called subluxations. Chiropractic care corrects spinal misalignments that affect the nerves, organs and muscles.

Is Chiropractic just for ‘bad backs’?

Chiropractors treat all types of back and neck issues, general aches and pains including those of joints, muscle spasms or cramps, frozen shoulder and tennis elbow arising from associated musculoskeletal conditions of the back and neck. They also treat joint pain including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis, alongside core osteoarthritis treatments and exercise.

Chiropractic can also help with headaches secondary to neck problems and prevention of migraine type headaches.

Am I too old for chiropractic care?

Age really is no barrier! Treatment is safe for people of any age; procedures differ for the very young, those with bone disease such as osteoporosis and the elderly.

Is chiropractic care good for kids?

Yes, chiropractic care is safe and beneficial for children. It can help with posture, growth development, sleep issues, and even common childhood conditions like colic or frequent falls. Chiropractors use gentle, age-appropriate techniques designed specifically for kids.

Are Chiropractors real “doctors”?

Doctors of Chiropractic are similar to non-medical doctors in other associated health-care professions such as Clinical Psychologists, Podiatry, Radiographers, Physiotherapists, Dentistry and others. To be awarded the academic degree of “Doctor of Chiropractic”, Chiropractors must attend a minimum of 4,485 hours of classroom hours while Medical Doctors (MD) attend a minimum of 4,248 hours for their medical degrees.

However, Chiropractors are allowed to practice spinal adjustment in place of prescribing medication while medical doctors are allowed to prescribe medication in accordance to their specialisation.

Is seeing a chiropractor necessary?

Chiropractic care is highly regarded for its scientifically proven results in treating/ helping with back pain, neck pain, headaches, bad posture, sciatica and certain/many other conditions. It is also important to note that chiropractic care can provide practical preventative care to optimise a person’s overall health and wellbeing.
